Arrest made in child porn case

Radford police Thursday arrested a man on child pornography charges, making him the second Radford City man arrested on such charges in the past three weeks.
According to Radford City Spokeswoman Rebecca Hawke, Andrew Hobson Cooke, 20, of the 400 block of Fairfax Street was arrested on one count of possession of child pornography after police executed a search warrant at his residence.
In mid-January, Radford City police arrested 24-year-old Kevin Edward Regan on an identical charge after a search warrant was executed at his home in the 300 block of Fourth Avenue. Regan also is charged with possession of marijuana with intent to distribute and obstruction of justice.
Both arrests were the result of investigations initiated by the Southern Virginia Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force. However, Hawke said police do not believe Cooke’s and Regan’s cases are related.
Officers seized a computer, digital media, and related equipment during the search of Cooke’s residence. He is being held on a $5,000 secured bond in New River Valley Regional Jail.
Computers, digital media and six suspected marijuana plants were seized during the search or Regan’s residence.
