Issy Lepchitz of Twin Oaks, Pulaski, VA passed away Wednesday, January 27, 2010 in the Pulaski Community Hospital at the age of 88. He was born October 21, 1921 in Radford, VA and was the son of the late Felix and Bertha Lepchitz and by a sister, Ethel Epstein. Mr. Lepchitz was the past president of the Pulaski Merchants Association, past president of the Jaycees, past president of the Pulaski Kiwanis Club and a member of the American Legion. He was a WWII veteran of the United States Army stationed in the Pacific. He was also a life-long member of the Beth Israel Synagogue in Roanoke, VA. Surviving are: Wife of 36 years – Sally Wiley Lepchitz, Pulaski and several nieces and nephews. He also leaves behind his faithful caregivers and inlaws, Keith, Mandy, Jeremy and Pinky. The family wishes to especially thank Dr. Pendergrast, Dr. Skylar, employees of Advanced Health Care and the nurses of the Pulaski Hospital who were so very kind to him.
A graveside service was held Friday, January 29, 2010 at 10:30 AM from the Beth Israel Cemetery, Roanoke, VA, with Rabbi Fabian Werbin officiating. The family will receive friends at their home at any time. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the charity of one’s choice.
