Main Street gains interest, survey

A Main Street merchant and a Pulaski resident say it is time Pulaski Town Council does away with one-way traffic on Main Street, but they stopped short of supporting the need for a roundabout or traffic circle.
Tracey Harriman, owner of Coffee Buy the Book said she believes two-way traffic on Main Street will help her business and others on the street.
As for those who say changing the traffic flow in town after all these years would be confusing to motorists, Harriman said many of her customers find the one-way streets confusing.
Henry Street resident Clark Payne said changing to two-way traffic would increase traffic flow downtown and improve access to businesses. However, he acknowledged he is a “little concerned” about going full-force on the project given the economic situation at present.
Both Payne and Harriman suggested some other alternative than a roundabout be developed to handle traffic conversion at the intersection of Main and Third streets.
