Sgt. Major Command Leroy Harrison Penn, age 81 departed this life Thursday, December 31, 2009 at Pulaski Community Hospital.
He was Sgt. Major Command (Retired) from the Signal Corp with 38 years of service in the US Army.
He was born October 25, 1928 and was predeceased by his parents William Harrison Penn and Annie Penn Conner, Juanita Miller Penn (Wife), brother Robert Penn (Ruth) of St. Albans, NY.
Leroy leaves to cherish his memory one daughter, Pamela Sue Penn, Pulaski, two sons, Sterling H. Penn of Bedford, VA and Eric Penn (Juanita), Radford, VA, Six sisters, Dorothy Johnson (James), Waxanna Trueheart of Pulaski, Yvonne Eaton-Savage, Floretta Porter, Jamaica, NY, Loretta Richardson (Joseph), Cambria Heights, NY and Larneive Uter (Glasford) of Lauderhill, Florida, One brother, Lane Penn of Pulaski, VA, Four grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
Funeral services was conducted Tuesday, January 5, 2010 at 1:00 PM at Randolph Avenue United Methodist Church, with Reverend Leroy Henry officiating. Burial will follow at Pinehurst Cemetery. The family received friends one hour prior to the service.
