Fire damages home

An electrical problem related to Christmas tree lights are being blamed for a fire that caused an estimated $30,000 in damage to a house on Bertha Street Monday.
According to Pulaski Fire Chief Bill Webb, firefighters responded to the residence at 168 Bertha Street just before 1 p.m. Monday.
Webb said the first units on the scene found heavy smoke coming from the residence, valued at about $65,000.
Firefighters had the fire under control in a little more than half an hour. The department was back in service by 3 p.m.
The house is owned by Roy Powers, but was occupied by Rebecca Akers.
No one was injured.
The fire department responded with four pieces of equipment and 21 personnel. Also responding was Pulaski Police Department, REMSI and American Electric Power.
