County snags training grant

Pulaski County was one of 47 Virginia jurisdictions to be awarded a Training Mini-Grant from the Virginia Department of Fire Programs.
The grant, applied for by Emergency Management Coordinator Bobby Clark, was awarded in the amount of $8,764. It is to be used for training purposes.
According to information provided to Pulaski County Board of Supervisors, Clark requested the Fiscal Year 2010 funding to purchase a HazMat (Hazardous Materials) Training Tools Package and Essentials of Firefighting books and CDs.
The supervisors voted to accept the grant Monday.
The county has until Dec. 31, 2010 to use the funds.
