Ollie Adeline Sperow Linkous (“Miss Ollie”), age 82 went to be with her Heavenly Father on Thursday, Dec. 17, 2009 after a brief, but courageous, battle with cancer. She was born June 14, 1927 in Clinchco, VA to the late Marshall and Delcie Sperow. She was an inspiration to all who knew her, especially during her illness. “Miss Ollie” was a faithful and well loved member of Faith Bible Church in Pulaski, VA. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, James D. Linkous; brothers, James Kyle, Harold Lee, and Marshall Ellis; sisters, Shelby Jean and Nancy Sue; special friend, Joanne Zell. Surviving are: Sons & Daughters-in-Law – Mike & Jan Linkous, Max Meadows, VA; Danny Linkous & fiance’ Kaye McElhaney, Pulaski; Jim & Janice Linkous, Pulaski, VA;
7 Grandchildren – Michael Linkous, Brad Linkous, Amanda Maull, Melinda Maull, Jeremy Linkous, Jordyn Linkous and Ashlee Linkous; 5 Great-Grandchildren – Brittany Crigger, James (Jay) Linkous, Devon Linkous, Jacob Linkous, Hannah Linkous

Funeral services will be held Saturday, December 19, 2009, at 2:00 PM from the Stevens Funeral Home, Pulaski, VA with Rev. Jim Linkous and Rev. Dwight Haynes officiating. Burial will follow in the Thornspring Cemetery, Pulaski Co. Visiting will be Saturday at the funeral home where the family will receive friends from 1:00 until the service hour. In lieu of flowers the family wishes that memorials be made to Faith Bible Church, 110 Lagrange St., Pulaski, VA 24301 or to Carilion Hospice Services of the NRV, 707 Randolph St., Suite 251, Radford, VA 24141.
The family would like to thank Dr. Ken Pendergrast, Dr. McCoy, Carilion Hospice Care for their care and encouragement. They would also like to say a special thanks to Patty Smith (Miss Ollie’s sister) who unselfishly gave wonderful care and companionship to mom in her last days. Also a special thanks to Ron Zell for his daily doses of laughter with Aunt Patty and Mom. To our family and friends at Faith Bible Church, we would like to humbly thank you for all of your acts of kindness to mom and our family by showing your love to her with the many cards, phone calls, meals, visits and especially prayers.
