Michael Wayne Pifer, 49, of Dublin went to be with the Lord on Monday December 7, 2009. He was born May 11, 1960 in Las Cruces, New Mexico and was the son of Loretta M. Pifer and the late Herman L. Pifer. He was also preceded in death by his grandparents, John and Geneva Morris and D.O. and Doris Pifer. Mike was currently employed at ATK. Previously he was the owner of a longstanding business in Dublin, Pifer’s Garage which originally started in 1946 by his grandfather, D.O. Pifer.
Surviving are: Sons Spc. M. Joseph Pifer, currently stationed in Iraq, H. Luke Pifer, Dublin, Daughter Heaven Leigh Pifer, Max Madows,
Mother Loretta M. Pifer, Dublin; Brother Timothy L. Pifer and wife Debbie, Dublin, Grandson Kaleb Christian Dillow-Pifer, Fort Chiswell;
Special Nieces Chessie Jarrells, Tristi DeBord, Lil Peetie and Braxton, all of Dublin; Fiance Deborah Kittinger, Dublin and many aunts, uncles and cousins.
Mike was very successful in many ways. He was a very loving and thoughtful person to his family and to anyone he met, in his business and personal life. He was a talented musician, writing many songs. Mike enjoyed being outdoors, especially family camping trips, hunting with his son and fishing with all the family.
Funeral service will be held Saturday at 11 A.M. from Morgan’s Chapel United Methodist Church in New River with Pastor Darlene Marshall officiating. Burial will follow in the Highland Memory Gardens, Dublin. The family will receive friends Friday evening from 6:00 until 8:00 P.M. from Stevens Funeral Home and also at the home of his mother, Loretta Pifer, 524 Roseberry Street, Apt. 2, Dublin. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Mike’s memory to Morgan’ s Chapel United Methodist Church in care of Buddy Sutton, 6540 New River Road, Radford, VA 24141.
