Robert Collie Baker, Sr., went peacefully to be with God November 28, 2009. He was at home with his loving wife, Shirley, of 58 years and his daughter Sheila at his side. Born in Pulaski Hospital July 5, 1931, to Bert and Cora Rhodes Baker of Draper. All his early life was in Draper where he became a graduate of Draper High School, class of 1949. He served four years in the U.S. Navy 1950-1954, and was married in July, 1952. He and his family moved to Port Orange, Florida, in 1966 where he was a Baseball Umpire with the American League until 1972, worked for Jon Hall Chevrolet in Port Orange, retiring in 1996.
He is survived by 2 sons, Robert C. Jr., and wife Dreama, Larry Ray and wife Carol, 1 daughter Sheila Kaye, 2 grandchildren, Robert C., III., and Elizabeth Dawn Baker.
Funeral arrangements by Lohman Funeral Home, 1423 Belvue Ave., Daytona Beach, Florida, with visitation Saturday, December 5th at 10:00 a.m., followed by a memorial sevice at 11:00 a.m.
