Darlene Winstead, beloved mother, daughter, sister and aunt entered into eternal rest with the Lord on November 30, 2009.
Darlene was born April 25, 1952 in Wythe County, Virginia and attended Cedar Grove Baptist Church and later Tabernacle Baptist. She was employed by the Kingsport Times News for many years.
Darlene was preceded in death by her father Franklin E. Lewis, Sr., and her husband Fred Winstead.
Surviving are her daughters, Christie Lewis and Leann Wilder and husband, Daniel, all of Kingsport; mother, Virgie Lewis of the home; sisters, Carol Mauk and husband J. E. of Kingsport, Joyce Thacker and husband Charlie of Surgoinsville, TN; brother, Frank Lewis, Jr. of Lenoir, NC; nieces Vickie Burdine and husband Wes, Lisa Cody and Tracie Webb and husband Jeremy, all of Kingsport; nephews, Jamie Mauk of Kingsport, Chad Thacker, Jeff Thacker and wife Trish, Jason Thacker and wife Rose, all of Surgoinsville, Steven Lewis and wife Brenda, Kevin Lewis and wife Abby, and David Lewis and wife Julie, all of Lenoir, NC; several great-nieces and great-nephews and many other special friends and relatives.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, December 3, 2009 from 12:00 PM until 2:00 PM in the J. Wayne Hamilton Memorial Chapel of Oak Hill Funeral Home. Funeral services will follow with Brother J. E. Mauk and Brother Jamie Mauk officiating.
Graveside services will follow in Oak Hill Memorial Park.
The staff of Oak Hill is honored to serve the family of Darlene Winstead.
