George Junior “Johnny” Johnson passed from this earth on November 2, 2009 following a brief illness. He was a remarkable Dad, Grandpa, Great Grandpa and Uncle to his adoring family. There are no words to describe how he will be missed or the void his passing leaves in their lives. George was born in Lynchburg, VA, but grew up in Pulaski VA. Grandpa Johnson, as he was affectionately called by family and friends, is survived by daughters Norma Jane Sink; Martha Susan Lund and husband Ken; sons David Alan and wife Debbie; George Clinton and wife Kristen, all of Greensboro; granddaughter Ashley Sheley; grandson Brian Gardner and wife Rece; his beloved great grandchildren Emma Grace, Hayden Paul and Addison Michelle; and his nephew, who was like his son, Todd Smith, wife Jenny and great niece Alyson Smith of Christiansburg, VA.George was preceded in death by his wife Margaret Jean Umberger Johnson, his mother Emma Grace Johnson, Uncle Albert Gordon Johnson, and brother and best friend William Clinton “Bill” Smith.The Johnson Family would like to extend our gratitude to the entire team from Hospice of Greensboro.
