Joseph Altoro Calfee

Joseph Altoro Calfee, age 50, passed from this life into the arms of Jesus, on Sunday, October 11, 2009 at his home. Joey was born on May 29, 1959 in Radford, Virginia. He was a beloved friend to many in the Dublin area and was often seen riding his scooter around town. Joey was a 27 year member of the Dublin, Radford, and Newbern File Departments and of the Pulaski County Lifesaving Crew. He will be greatly missed by all of his many friends. Survivors include his parents, Joseph H. and Lou Ella Calfee, his brother, William Thomas Calfee, all of Dublin, his sister, Betty Lou Ella Calfee, of Christiansburg, and many loving aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Visitation will be Wednesday, October 14, 2009 at Dublin United Methodist Church where the family will receive friends from 6:00 pm – 9:00 pm. A celebration of his life will be conducted by Reverend Bill Rowland on Thursday, October 15, 2009 at 1:00 pm from the Dublin United Methodist Church. An honorary burial will follow at the Newbern Cemetery, Newbern, Virginia. Memorial contributions to help cover expenses may be made to the Dublin Fire Department, PO Box 699, Dublin, VA 24084, to First Bank of Virginia, PO Box 488, Dublin, VA 24084, or to the Newbern Volunteer Fire Department, PO Box 328, Newbern, VA 24126.
