Marvin Julian Arnold, age 67, was received by our Lord on Tuesday, September 8, 2009. He had fought a lengthy battle after a liver transplant performed June 11, 2008 and succumbed to complications at UVA Medical Center in Charlottesville, Va., surrounded by his loving wife and his children. He was preceded in death by his parents, Henry Cecil and Ada D. Arnold. He was a veteran of the United States Air Force and employed by RAAP for 10 years. Julian was a devout Christian all of his life. He was an active member of Full Gospel Bible Mission in Austinville, Va. Though he fought health afflictions for most of his life, he was a man of love and humor, kindness and patience. He is survived by his wife, Lenney McRoberts Arnold; his son and daughter-in-law, Brian Christopher and Megan Arnold; his daughter and son-in-law, Jennifer and Keith Rotenizer; 6 grandchildren, Kayla and Konner Rotenizer, Erin, Clayton, Gwendolynne & Jonah Arnold; brother, Leon Arnold; sister, Evelyn Young. Several nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.
Funeral services will be held Friday, September 11, 2009 at 11 a.m. at the Barnett Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Hal Lewis officiating. Interment will follow in Mt. Zion Cemetery. The family will receive friends Thursday from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial donations be made to Lead Mines Rescue Squad, P.O. Box 502, Austinville, Va. 24312. Barnett Funeral Home, Wytheville, Va. is in charge of arrangements.
