Golf tournament on tap at Thornspring Golf Course

A golf tournament is on tap for next weekend to benefit The Rock Youth Center of Pulaski and Pulaski Church of God Care Givers.
The tournament will be held Saturday, August 22 at Thornspring Golf Course in Pulaski.
A barbeque meal will be served at noon, and tee-off is set for 2 p.m.
Four people can form a team, and the cost is $40 per person.
Along with teams, sponsors and volunteers are needed to help out with the tournament. Those interested in making a donation, volunteering, or finding out more about the tournament can call (540) 577-2873.
The Pulaski Church of God Care Givers have organized this golf tournament in years past, but this is the first year the The Rock has participated, according to Joe Blankenship, Rock Youth Center president.
The Care Givers group is a benevolent ministry at the Pulaski Church of God that works to meet the needs of the less fortunate. One example includes giving food and money to individuals in need during the holidays, Blankenship said.
As for the Rock Youth Center of Pulaski, it was established in 2006 by Blankenship, a local youth pastor, along with his wife, Kelly, and various youth workers, community leaders, and concerned citizens.
The center was created in response to the local "community’s need for a charitable organization that can provide the nutritional, physical, mental, spiritual and economic tools that will make a difference in the lives of our youth," according to the center’s website, rockpulaski.com.
The center provides free weekly and monthly events for local youth, which include recreation, food, music, all based around a Christ-centered message.
