Robert M. Lovern, Jr. of California, formerly of Pulaski, VA passed away in Reno, Nevada on Sunday July 26, 2009. He was born September 20, 1926 and was the son of the late Robert M. Lovern, Sr. and Jessie Lyons Lovern of Newbern, VA. He was also preceded in death by his former wife, Geraldine Isabel Hoback, a brother, Oakley J. Lovern, a sister Margaret Lovern Burnette and a grandson Anthony Lovern. Surviving are: son & daughter-in-law Robert M. & Jeannine Lovern, Reno, Nevada; grandson Robert M. Lovern, IV, Reno; granddaughter & husband Julie & Joel Akerson, Reno; sister & husband Jaunila Lovern & Bill Burnette, Salem, VA; brothers & sisters-in-law Charles (Sam) & Mickey Lovern, Rural Retreat, VA; Ralph (Jim) and Betty Lovern, Mechanicsburg, PA; Gene & Maria Lovern, Fountain, CO; longtime friends of California Hedi, Sylvia, Charlie & Tyron Thompson.
Mr. Lovern served in WWII and Korean War and was awarded a Purple Heart in the Korean War. The funeral was held in Reno, Nevada.
