Frederick "Dink" Mahone

Frederick "Dink" Mahone, age 78, of Foster Falls Road in the Barren Springs community passed away Saturday, Aug. 1, 2009 in the Montgomery Community Hospital. He was born May 29, 1931 in Austinville, the son of the late James H. and Gladys Anderson Mahone. He was a member of the Glenwood United Methodist Church, and was a retired U.S. Army Staff Sergeant serving during the Korean and Vietnam conflicts. He was a member of the Grover King Post #1115 VFW in Hillsville, the Pulaski American Legion Post #7 and the Am Vets in Pulaski. He was a member of the Hillsville Masonic Lodge #193 A.F. & A.M. He was preceded in death by a sister Opal Webb and two brothers Malon Richard Mahone and James Kermit Mahone.
He is survived by one sister and brother-in-law Frankie and Ed Pike of Barren Springs; one brother and sister-in-law Franklin Dee and Bonnie Mahone of Barren Springs; two sisters-in-law Judy Mahone of Mechanicsville and Helen Mahone of Foster Falls; special friends and caregivers Tom Wheeling and the Dalton Family.
Funeral services will be held Monday, Aug. 3 at 2 p.m. at the Glenwood United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Brian Wyke officiating. Interment will follow in the Foster Falls Cemetery. The family will receive friends Sunday evening, 6-8 p.m., at the Glenwood United Methodist Church. Graveside rites will be conducted by Grover King post #1115 VFW and the Hillsville Masonic Lodge #193 A.F. & A.M.
Reese Funeral Home in Austinville is in charge of the arrangements.
