Dublin FD responds to equipment fire

A piece of farming equipment was damaged last week when some bales of hay caught fire in a field.
According to Brad Wright, Dublin Fire Department’s public information officer, the department responded to the fire off Courtney Lane, north of Dublin, just before 6 p.m. Thursday. The piece of farm machinery, a hay spear, was damaged and several bales of hay were destroyed before the fire was brought under control by firefighters from both Dublin and Fairlawn fire departments. Fairlawn was called to provide assistance with the fire.
At the same time Dublin was at the fire, Wright said the department was asked to respond to a wreck on Route 11 at Lee Highway Court. Newbern Fire Department responded with a fire engine to assist Dublin with that call.
