Town Council remembers Chuck Hill

For the second meeting in a row, Pulaski Town Council Tuesday night opened a meeting by remembering an employee who had died.
At the beginning of Tuesday night’s meeting Mayor Jeff Worrell said he is sad to report that for the second time in as many meetings he was announcing the death of “one of our own.”
Tuesday, Worrell was referring to 44-year-old Chuck Hill who died at Pulaski Community Hospital June 23.
Hill was a 12-year employee of the town. He assisted his fellow public works employees with the repair of a waterline break on Prospect Avenue just one day before his death.
At the June 16 town council work session, Worrell opened the session by requesting a moment of silence for a Pulaski Fire Department firefighter who died June 8 at University of Virginia Hospital in Charlottesville.
Jeffrey Houston Reed, 39, died after suffering a medical problem while fighting a fire off Hogan’s Place Road in Pulaski County June 5. The medical issue was not related to the fire.
Worrell noted Tuesday that the last few weeks have been difficult for town staff as a result of the losses.
