Father, son charged in connection to murder

The son of a man charged in an April murder in Radford is now charged in connection with the case.
Phillip Eugene Beale Jr., 22, recently was indicted by a Radford City grand jury on charges of first degree murder, use of a firearm in the commission of a felony, discharge a firearm in public, and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
Beale and his father, Phillip Eugene Beale II are accused of the murder of Floyd Wright Jr. in an April 2 incident that resulted in Radford University.
The junior Beale already was incarcerated at Western Virginia Regional Jail on unrelated charges when the incidents were handed down. As a result of the new charges, Beale presently is being held without bond.
Police said Wright was shot outside the 500 block of Calhoun St. The incident triggered a lockdown of Radford University’s campus and the use of the City’s CodeRED emergency notification system for residents.

The investigation led to the senior Beale being charged with second-degree murder and use of a firearm in commission of a felony two days later. He remains in jail without bond, police noted.
