Charles Wayne Cook, 63, of Wilmington, NC, died Monday, June 8, 2009 at his residence. He was born in Welch, WV, on September 10, 1945, the son of Clarice Bird Cook of Martinsville, VA and the late Lionel Keith Cook. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Lou Quesenberry Cook in 2006 and an infant son, Phillip Neil Cook.
Mr. Cook earned a B.S. in Chemical Engineering from VA Polytechnic Institute and was employed by NC DENR as a Regional Supervisor for Air Quality Control. In addition to his mother, survivors include a daughter, Heather Dawn Cook of Wilmington, NC; two sisters, Sandra Sue Scott of Brandon, FL and Joyce Cook Young of Martinsville, VA; three nieces, Michelle Scott McLamb of Durham, NC, Lori Scott (Mielnik) of State College, PA, and Jessica Young Nigh of Martinsville, VA; two great nieces, Lindsay Nicole McLamb and Caitlin Mary McLamb, both of Durham, NC.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, June 10, 2009 at Andrews Mortuary Market Street Chapel, Wilmington, N.C. A graveside service will be held 2:00 p.m. Saturday, June 13, 2009 at Highland Memory Gardens in Dublin, VA with Rev. Dale Akers officiating.
