John Carson Gillespie

John Carson Gillespie, 72, of Pulaski, died early Tuesday morning June 2, 2009 in the Lewis-Gale Hospital, Salem. Born in Pulaski County December 17, 1936 he was the son of the late Robert and Ada Smith Gillespie. He was also preceded in death by sister Mary Dunford, brothers, Bob Gillespie and Arnold Smith, sons-in-law David Reese and Kenneth Cress, grandson Isiah Samuel Gillespie. He was a retired employee of the Coleman Furniture Corp.
Surviving are his wife Vicki Morris Gillespie; daughters Carol Reese, Wanda Cress; son and daughter-in-law Johnny and Angie Gillespie, mother of his children Betty Nunn Gillespie, 9 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren, a special recognition for grandson Capt. Kenneth Brian Cress serving his country in Iraq.
Funeral service will be held Thursday at 7:30 p.m. from Stevens Funeral Chapel with Rev. David Hoover officiating. Visiting will be Thursday evening from the funeral home where the family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. until the service hour. Burial will be in Thornspring Cemetery, Pulaski County.
