Pulaski County FFA attends area rally

WYTHEVILLE – In mid-April, 16 Pulaski County FFA members competed at the Appalachian Area Rally in several Career Development Events.
Career Development Events are competitions that are available to FFA members to strengthen skills taught in the agriculture classroom. These events promote the FFA mission of premier leadership, personal growth and career success.
The rally was held at Wytheville Community College and all contests were conducted throughout the day. A talent show was performed for all attendees and a barbeque lunch was served.
PCHS agriculture teacher Jennie Delozier commented that the overall results from participants of the Pulaski County FFA were "phenomenal."
•Lacie Boothe received first place in the job interview contest
•Alison Sutphin received first place in senior extemporaneous public speaking
•Jesse Lineberry came in third in senior prepared public speaking. •The senior agricultural mechanics team placed first with members: Ty Burton, Guy Stike and Brett Graham. Graham received an additional award as the top high individual of the contest.
Delozier added that the junior agricultural mechanics team who also competed and did a great job consisted of: Dakota Long, Kirk Albert, and Hunter Burton.
•The senior hippology team with members: Ashlyn Nunley, Courtney Duncan, Megan Hudson and Georgia Hilliard placed second overall and Georgia Hilliard placed as the second high individual of the senior contest.
•The junior hippology team placed first overall with team member Amber Manuel placing as the third highest individual, Marissa Cressel the second highest individual and Shayna Thacker as the top highest individual of the junior contest.
All members will attend the State FFA Convention on June 22-25 at Virginia Tech where they will be competing at the state level in these career development events.
