Grant buys Pulaski new command vehicle

Thanks to the help of a federal grant, the Town of Pulaski has a new fire command vehicle.
The 2009 Chevrolet Suburban 4×4 was recently delivered to the town and will eventually be equipped with “modern fire incident command communications, information systems and equipment,” said Fire Chief Bill Webb.
The purchase of the vehicle was made possible through an $18,500 United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) Rural Development Grant program. Under the program, USDA covered 55 percent of the $33,000 in total cost and the town had to match 45 percent.
Webb said, the vehicle “will provide a more modern and dependable command platform for use on emergency incidents.”
During a budget hearing last year, Webb indicated he needed a new command vehicle because his vehicle had become unreliable and expensive to maintain.
