Margaret L. (Pat) Duncan died unexpectedly April 18, 2009 after routine heart surgery in Sacramento, Calif.
Pat was preceded in death by her beloved son Tom.
She is survived by her loving and devoted daughter Debby Hinman and husband, Jeff, of Cameron Park, Calif.; sister Carol Fielder and husband, Stan; and brother Ronnie Louthen and wife, Judy, of Bluefield, W.Va.; and several nieces and nephews.
Pat was born Jan. 27, 1935 and began her career in education as a teacher at Liberty High School in Bedford in 1967. Over the years she developed curriculum for high school research in science and mathematics. In 1991 she moved to Pulaski to be director of the Southwest Virginia Governors School, from which she retired in June 2008. During her time in Pulaski, she became actively involved at Heritage Church, where she became a deacon.
Through these activities she earned the respect and admiration of thousands of students, parents, educators, business people, government officials, and her church family.
A celebration of Pat’s life will be held at Heritage Church in Dublin on Tuesday May 19 at 6 p.m.
