Police search for I-77 shooter

Virginia State Police are attempting to locate suspects in the early-morning shooting of three tractor-trailer trucks on Interstate 77 Thursday.
Sgt. Michael Conroy said the shootings took place around 2 a.m. Thursday as the trucks were traveling southbound on I-77. Two of the shootings occurred at mile marker seven and one was at mile marker two. Fortunately, no one was injured.
According to Conroy, witnesses said a car believed to be a mid-1980s gold or brown Dodge passenger vehicle was involved in the incidents. Apparently two to three people were inside the car, which pulled alongside the trucks, with its headlights off, as the shots were fired.
Apparently the car was traveling at a high rate of speed.
Police said the vehicle was last seen traveling south at a high rate of past the I-77 scales in North Carolina.
State Police are continuing to follow up on leads and attempt to locate additional witnesses.
