Arrest made in Fairlawn robbery

A Christiansburg woman has been arrested in connection with last Thursday’s robbery of Bank of America in Fairlawn.
Pulaski County Sheriff Jim Davis said officers who worked throughout the weekend “following up on numerous leads and calls” arrested 31-year-old Stephanie Durelle Bermudez on a charge of robbery Sunday.
Bermudez was arrested without incident, Davis said. She is being held in New River Valley Regional Jail without bond.
According to Davis, some of the cash taken in the robbery was recovered. Police also allegedly found several articles of clothing worn during the robbery.
Davis said Bermudez escaped from the scene in a vehicle parked nearby. He noted the first officer arrived on the scene of the robbery within two minutes of the report being received.
Although the investigation is continuing, no further arrests are expected, the sheriff’s said.
He said last week that the robber made away with an undisclosed amount of money after handing a threatening note to a teller. No weapon was ever displayed.
The suspect was last seen fleeing on foot in the direction of Montgomery County.
