Iris Jean Davis Pennington, 78, of 276 Timber Rd., Barren Springs, Va. died on Wednesday, April 22, 2009, in the Pulaski Community Hospital. She was born in Pulaski County on March 31, 1931, and was the daughter of the late Henry A. Davis and Effie Robertson Adams. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Ray Harold Pennington, by a son, Danny M. Pennington, and by sisters, Evelyn Bratton and Lula Dawn Richardson, and by her brothers, Pierce Adams, Henry A. Davis, Jr., Thomas Davis, Kyle A. "Bobby" Davis and Mark Andrew Davis. Surviving are sons and daughters-in-law Michael & Dana Pennington, Martinsville, David & Alice Pennington, Barren Springs and Roger & Sandy Pennington, Pulaski; daughter-in-law Joan Pennington Aliff, Snowville; special sister & care giver Louise Harris, Barren Springs; sister Elizabeth Seagle, Dublin; brothers Joseph Earl Davis, Richmond; James Roy Davis, Bassett; 12 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Saturday at 2:00 p.m. from the Stevens
Funeral Chapel, Pulaski with Rev. Dale Akers, Rev. Randall Lawrence and Rev. Brian Wyke officiating. Burial will follow in the Thornspring Cemetery, Pulaski County. Visiting will be Friday evening from Stevens Funeral Home where the family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m.
