Evangeline (Tootie) Irene Merry Hopkins

Evangeline (Tootie) Irene Mery Hopkins, 81, passed on April 5, 2009 at her home in Draper, Va. She was born on September 30, 1927 in Russell, PA, the daughter of the late Lyle L. and Goldie Bell Grush Merry. Living most of her life in and around Chautauqua County, NY and Corry, PA, moviong to VA in 2004. She enjoyed working in flower beds and roses, bird watching and spending countless hours with her family. She attended Mayville United Methodist church for many years. She was currently attending Kingdom Hall of Jehovah witnesses in Pulaski. She was precedd in death by her parents, her husband John George Hopkins whom died in 1972, two sisters Doris Redicki, Florence Armitage and one brother James A. Merry. Surviving are sister and brother-in-law Joyce & Myron Sornson, Brentwood, CA; children & spouses Lyle W. & Lucretia Hopkins, Sherman, NY; Diann & Robert Thoms, Sherman, NY: David & Shirley Hopkins, Mayville, NY; Melody & Ronald Blose, Draper, VA; Glenn Hopkins, Jamestown, NY; Patsy & Bill Davids; Corry, PA; Timothy & Anna Hopkins, Deweittville, NY: Phillip Hopkins, Pulaski, VA; 38 grandchildren; 51
great-grandchildren, 6 great-great-grandchildren; many nieces & nephews, all around the globe.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, April 7, 2009 at 2:00 p.m. from the Stevens Funeral Chapel, Pulaski. Visiting will be Tuesday at Stevens Funeral Home where the family will receive friends from 1:00 until the service hour. Burial will follow in the Duncan Cemetery, Draper, VA. A memorial service will also be held in NY: to be announced at later date. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donation to be made to one’s favorite charity in Evangeline’s name.
