Frankie James Akers, age 75 of Draper (Delton Community) passed away Sunday, March 29, 2009 at Pulaski Community Hospital. Born April 28, 1933 in Pulaski County he was the son of the late Jesse Wade Akers & Eliza Ellen Covey Larue. His wife, Nancy Simmons Akers; sister Edna Sheppard and brother Ronald Wayne Akers also preceded him in death. Surviving are sons and daughter-in-law David & Royzetta Akers, Pulaski; James Dean Akers, Draper and special friend Joyce C. Roseberry, Pulaski; grandsons Justin Akers, Jamie Rigney, Travis Akers & fiancee’ Victoria Bentley and Taylor Akers; great granddaughters Kaya Akers, Hannah Akers; brothers Melvin J. Akers, Pulaski; Douglas E. & Loretta Akers, Pulaski, William "Bill" J. & Peggy Akers, Barren Springs; sisters Sue A. & Bill Nester, Pulaski, Catherine A. Roseberry, Pulaski; Sadie & Melvin Graham, Dublin; sisters-in-law Patty Porterfield and husband Terry, Pulaski; Doris Simmons, Pulaski and special and good friend Maxine Jones.
Funeral services will be held Thursday 2:00 p.m. in the Bower Funeral Home Chapel, Pulaski with the Pastor George Freeman officiating. Interment will follow at the Oakwood Cemetery, Pulaski. The family will receive friends from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. Wednesday evening at the Bower Funeral Home, Pulaski.
