School Board to hold public hearing

The Pulaski County School Board will hold a public hearing and take action regarding their proposed budget for 2009-10 during their meeting today.
The public hearing for the proposed budget is set for 6 p.m., but the meeting will start at 4:30 p.m. The meeting will be held in the Pulaski County School Board office, located at 202 N. Washington Ave. in Pulaski.
In addition to the School Board’s 2009-10 budget, the board will take action regarding proposed attendance boundary adjustments for elementary school students within the Pulaski County Public School system. The proposed adjustments would close Newbern Elementary School and affect 387 students starting next fall by moving 43 students from Critzer Elementary to Pulaski Elementary, 27 students from Newbern to Critzer, 75 students from Pulaski to Critzer, 161 students from Dublin Elementary to the new Riverlawn Elementary, and 81 students from Newbern to Dublin.
Other actions on the board’s agenda involve Pulaski County High School’s graduation date, and the school system’s calendar for the 2009-10 school year.
In addition, both the Teacher of the Month and the Employee of the Month will be recognized during the meeting.
Pulaski County School Board meetings are open to the public and citizens will have the opportunity to make comments at designated times during the meeting.
