Warburton named director of library

Sally Warburton has been named director of Pulaski County Library.
The library’s Board of Directors unanimously selected Warburton to fill the position left vacant when director Dot Ogburn retired at the end of 2008.
During her 16 years with the library, Warburton has worked in various positions. Her most recent assignment was as youth services coordinator.
Warburton holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in American studies from Miami (Ohio) University and a Masters of Library Science from Florida State University.
The library board selected Warburton for her “leadership ability, enthusiasm, and commitment to serving the Pulaski community, both personally and professionally.”
“I am honored to be chosen for this position and excited to work with the staff and library board to serve our community,” Warburton said.
She was selected from a field of 14 applicants who responded to a nationwide search for a director.
To assist in the hiring process, the board appointed a selection committee made up of seven individuals with varied professional backgrounds in the private sector, library administration, and local government.
Of the fourteen initial applications, the committee found eight applicants to be technically qualified for the job. The field was narrowed to three applicants following interviews.
Friends of the Pulaski County Library will hold a welcoming reception for Warburton March 24 from 4–5 p.m. at the Pulaski Library branch. The public is invited to attend.

Warburton will begin her new duties April 1.
