Rusty Wallace visits Shelor Motor Mile

Shelor Motor Mile saw some hot pre-season action Tuesday with Rusty
Wallace getting some seat time in the #26 car (above photo) owned by
Phillip Morris. Wallace said he hadn’t been on the track in 3 years
and is warming up for a race in Bristol next month.
He will partner
with former team owner and crew chief Ray Evernham who will run the
first 15 laps in car #26 and set their pace. Wallace will then run an
additional 35 laps in a new car he is currently building with Steve
Leavett Racing. “I really like this track,” Wallace said, referring to
the Motor Mile Speedway. “This is a big effort for us to get back in
the rhythm for this race.” Wallace is a 30 year race veteran and won
the 1989 NASCAR Winston Cup Championship. He and Evernham are
currently the ESPN and NASCAR broadcast announcers for the network’s
nationally televised racing coverage.
