JW’s Quick Stop closes Friday

After about half a century of running stores in one area or another, J.W. and Helen Church waited on customers for the last time Friday.
The Churches have run J-W’s Quick Stop off Old Rt. 100 (Possum Hollow Road) in the Lake Shore area since 1986. But now they’ve decided it’s time to retire.
Asked what he has planned for his retirement, J.W. laughs and says, “as long as I get up and see the sun, I’ll plan my day.”
Around lunchtime Friday, the couple was kept busy talking with customers who stopped by to make one final purchase or just bid the Churches well on their retirement.
Helen says they opened their first business in Mayberry, W.Va. when they first got married. They ran a second store in West Virginia before opening this one in the mid-1980s.
