Plenny Everett Dalton, 94, of Pulaski died early Saturday morning March 28, 2009 in the Highland Ridge Rehabilitation Center, Dublin. He was born in Patrick County on Nov. 2, 1914 and was the son of the late James Dalton and Laura Rorrer Dalton. He was also preceded in death by his wives Nellie Virginia Jones Dalton and Grace Rakes Dalton; son Wallace Dalton; brothers Russell, Woody, Estel, Earl and Hardin Dalton; and sisters Gertrude Turner, Vera Webb, Lillian Murphy and Mary Sutphin.
Surviving are his daughters and son-in-law Joan Hawkins of Dublin, and Joyce and Ken Walker of Cortez, Fla.; sons and daughters-in-law Wendell and Brenda Dalton of Knoxville, Tenn., and Kelly and Gary Dalton of Dublin; six grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; step-sons and spouses Clyde and Phobe Rakes of Kernersville, N.C., John Henry and Betty Rakes of Sandy Level, Garry and Cheryl Rakes of Front Royal, and Velva Rakes of Stuart; step-daughters and spouses Lucille and Lester Craig of Stuart, Betty and Elmer Dalton of Gibsonville, N.C., and Virginia and Edward Gunter of Stuart; and sisters-in-law Mandy Dalton of Draper and Margaret Dalton of Pulaski.
Funeral service will be held Tuesday at 11 a.m. from Stevens Funeral Home Chapel, Pulaski with Rev. Johnny Howlett officiating. Burial will follow in Highland Memory Gardens, Dublin. Visiting will be Monday evening from the funeral home, where the family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m.
