Hubert Atlas "H.A." Turner, Jr., 86, of 1408 Lakeview Drive, Pulaski County died Tuesday March 17, 2009 in the Pulaski Community Hospital. He was born in Durham, N.C. on July 13, 1922 and was the son of the late Hubert Adam Turner and Lydia Pickett Turner. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Bartie Quesenberry "Peggy" Turner. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Pulaski and he was a retired employee of Hercules, Radford with 36 years of service. Mr. Turner was a veteran of WWII having served in the US Marine Corp. He was a member of the Pulaski Country Club, Elks Club, American Legion Post #7, he was a Mason and a volunteer at Pulaski Community Hospital. He loved his church and family. Surviving are two daughters Pam Turner, Pulaski; Marielynn "Kay" Caldwell, Tenn., one son H.A. "Tony" Turner, III., and his wife Mary Jane, Pulaski, 8 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
Mr. Turner will be cremated. A memorial service will be held Saturday at 2:00 p.m. from the First United Methodist Church, Pulaski, with Rev. Hugh Kilgore officiating. Visiting will be Saturday from the church where the family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. until the service hour. In lieu of flowers the family wishes that memorials be made to the First United Methodist Church, 135 4th Street. NW., Pulaski, Va. 24301 or to the charity of one’s choice.
