Brenda Tolbert King

Brenda Tolbert King, 46, of Radford, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Wednesday, March 11, 2009 after a courageous battle with cervical cancer. Brenda was born Feb. 22, 1963. Brenda was a teacher and basketball coach at Hidden Valley High School and previously at Pulaski County High School and Radford High School. Teaching, coaching and her children were Brenda’s passions. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Radford where she taught the teenage Sunday School Class. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Danny Lee King. Survivors include her children Jared King, a freshman baseball player at UVA and Kelly King of the home; mother, Nita Turman of Willis; brother and sister-in-law, Bink (Dreama) Tolbert of Willis; sisters and brothers-in-law, Debbie (Gary) Hale of Cloverdale, Pam Dalton (Brad Sawyers) of Draper and twin sister, Linda (Coy) King of Floyd; other survivors include two stepsons, Frankie and Greg King and numerous aunts, uncles, nephews, nieces and hundreds of players, students and her beloved dog, Shooter. A Celebration of Brenda’s Life will be held Sunday, March 15, 2009 at 2:00 p.m. at the Pulaski County High School Gym with Dr. Paul Lane officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial scholarship contributions be made on behalf of the following schools Pulaski Co. The King Family would like to extend a special thank you to Dr. William Fintel and the nurses on the 6th floor West Wing at Lewis Gale Hospital and all our friends who helped with Brenda’s fundraisers and care during her illness, especially the players, students, and coaches………Brenda loved you all.
