William McKinley "Bill" Farmer, Jr., 83 of Dublin, Va. died early Sunday morning, March 8, 2009, in the Edgemont Center, Wytheville, Va. He was born in Bland Co. on October 26, 1925 and was the son of the late William McKinley Farmer, Sr. and Earlie Mobley Farmer. He was also preceded in death by his wife Sarah Hudson Farmer. Mr. Farmer was a retired employee of Burlington Industries, Dublin, a veteran of the United States Army having served during WWII and was Methodist by faith. Surviving are one sister, several nieces and nephews and special friends Henry & Vickie Higginbotham, Dean & Nancy Hill, Grace Hamblin, Bill Spivey, Scott Bowen and Billy Hamblin.
A graveside service will be held Wednesday, March 11, 2009 at 2:00 p.m. from the Goshen Cemetery, Bland Co., with Rev. Bill Hinton and Chaplain James R. "Bucky" Cox officiating. There will be no visitation. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the charity of one’s choice.
