Passionate About Pulaski County

When I was asked to submit an article for the Southwest Times for a new series entitled "Passionate About Pulaski County" I felt honored.
My family and I moved to Pulaski from the Roanoke Valley 3 1/2 years ago when I was named as the new Chief Executive Officer of Pulaski Community Hospital, following the retirement of Jack Nunley.
I can tell you that this is a wonderful community in which to live and raise a family, and what makes this community special is its people. When we were first getting settled here, everyone was so warm and friendly that we knew instantly that this was where we wanted to live. We also feel thankful to have found a wonderful church —we are members of the First United Methodist Church, as our faith is the foundation of my family’s daily life.
As CEO of Pulaski Community Hospital, I feel privileged to have the opportunity to work with such a tremendous team of employees, physicians, Board members, and volunteers who are committed to delivering high quality care and compassionate service to our patients and their family members. I have always said that I never hope anyone gets sick, but if they do I want them to choose PCH as their hospital.
Many people may not realize what a terrific hospital we have right here in Pulaski. We are a fully accredited hospital, with a newly accredited Chest Pain Center — one of the few hospitals in the State of Virginia to have received this prestigious designation.
Over the past couple of years we have spent several million dollars upgrading the equipment in our Radiology Department, and will soon have a digital department that can transmit a patient’s tests to their family physician’s office, or any other location which is significant to their treatment.
We also know that a patient’s time is valuable, so this past year we opened a Fast Track service in the Emergency Department to treat those who present with minor illnesses much faster.
When we say "We are your friends for life" we sincerely mean it. You will be hard pressed to find another hospital with as many caring employees as we have assembled in one location…Pulaski Community Hospital.

Local leaders will share their thoughts in this space each week to tell why they are
"Passionate about Pulaski County."
