Bruce Benjamin McCall Sr., age 90, of Pulaski, went home to his Lord and Savior on Jan. 13, 2009. He was a devoted husband to Mildred for 61 years.
He will be sadly missed by his loving children, Bruce and his wife Marty of Monticello, Fla., Debbie of Chantilly; granddaughters, Sarah and Elizabeth of Orlando, Fla.; sisters, Opal Newland of Pulaski, Lila Groseclose of Harrisonburg; brother, Mack McCall of Nashville, Tenn.; and many nephews and nieces.
Immediately following graduation from VPI as an electrical engineer, he served 3.5 years in the Army’s African and European theaters during WWII. He was devoted to his family and friends, and was an avid sportsman who loved golf, bird hunting and gardening. His smile and humor will be greatly missed by all.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, Jan. 17, at noon at the First Presbyterian Church, with the Rev. Jeff Kackley officiating. Interment will follow in Oakwood Cemetery. Following the graveside committal, the family and friends are invited back to the First Presbyterian Fellowship Hall for lunch.
Flowers will be appreciated, but for those who wish, they may make memorial contributions in Bruce’s memory to the Alzheimer’s Association, 2728 Colonial Avenue S.W., Suite 2, Roanoke, VA 24015, or to the First Presbyterian Church, 408 N. Jefferson Avenue, Pulaski, VA 24301.
