Pratt new vice chairman of board

After five years as vice chairman of the Pulaski County Board of Supervisors, Frank Conner has turned over the reins to Draper District Supervisor Dean Pratt.
During an organizational meeting held last January, Conner said he would serve as vice chairman for another four years if it was the board’s desire.
However, he indicated it would be better to give someone else a chance to serve in the position.
In keeping with Conner’s wishes, the Board of Supervisors voted at that time to continue the Massie District supervisor’s vice chairmanship for another year.
At this month’s meeting, the Board of Supervisors unanimously voted to make Pratt vice chairman for the next year. He is in his second term on the board.
Asked why he gave up the vice chairmanship, Conner, 78, reiterated that he believes someone else should have the opportunity to serve in that capacity.
The vice chairman conducts meetings in the absence of the chairman, who is Cloyd District Supervisor Joe Sheffey.
In his fourth term on the board, Conner has said this will most likely be the last term he will serve as a supervisor.
