A 16-year-old Pulaski County High School sophomore is facing one felony and two misdemeanor charges as the result of an unloaded gun and knife he allegedly brought to school Tuesday.
Pulaski County Sheriff Jim Davis stressed that even though the gun and knife were found, no one was ever in danger.
He said the gun was unloaded, and no ammunition was available and the student made no threats against anyone.
Davis said his department was notified around noon that the school staff and administration, as well as the sheriff’s office resource officers had been made aware of a student possibly having a gun in possession on school grounds.
The male student was interviewed and the items were seized.
In addition to being suspended from school, the student was charged with possessing weapons on school property and as a minor.
An investigation is continuing into why the student brought the gun and knife to school.
