1 dead, 1 injured in crash

RADFORD — A crash reconstruction team has been called in to help investigate a single-vehicle wreck that claimed the life of a Radford man Saturday.
According to Radford City spokeswoman Rebecca Hawke, Thalis Edward Lawrence, 83, was pronounced dead upon arrival at Carilion New River Valley Medical Center. His wife was flown from the New River facility to Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital, but a condition report was not available.
Hawke indicated the wreck was not witnessed, but a passerby noticed the vehicle and reported the wreck to 911 at 1:12 p.m.
Lawrence was a passenger in the car, which was driven by his wife, 78-year-old Glada Wade Lawrence.
Radford Department of Police is investigating the crash, which was in the 100 block of Forest Avenue. The Christiansburg Total Station Crash Reconstruction Unit is assisting with the case.
