Another RU student hurt in fall

RADFORD — For the second time in less than two weeks, a Radford University student has been injured in a fall from stairs.
Rebecca Hawke, public relations coordinator for the City of Radford, said Steven Joseph Tracy, age 19, was injured when he fell down stairs onto concrete early Friday morning.
Tracy was transported to New River Valley Medical Center and then was airlifted to Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital, where he was in stable condition Friday, police said.
According to Hawke, Radford police and emergency crews responded to the 1100 block of Clement Street around 2:30 a.m. after Tracy “fell down the stairs onto concrete.”
Radford police say alcohol is believed to have been a factor in the fall, which, they say, appears to have been accidental.
Tracy is originally from Alexandria.
Another Radford University student, Bobby Fletcher Thomason, 21, was critically injured Sept. 14 when he allegedly was pushed from a stairway at Hunters Ridge Apartments in the early-morning hours.
Thomason died at the Roanoke hospital on the Sept. 19.
Police originally thought Thomason’s fall was accidental, but further investigation determined Thomason allegedly was pushed over a handrail.
William Christopher Ritter, 19, of Radford, is charged with aggravated malicious wounding in the case.
Ritter is being held in New River Valley Regional Jail in Dublin without bond.
