Mariners lose game one, 7-4

PULASKI — The Elizabethton Twins outlasted the Pulaski Mariners 7-4 at Calfee Park on Thursday night to take game one of the Appalachian League Championship Series.  The Twins will take their one game lead back home trying to win the best of three series tonight.
 Elizabethton (1-0) jumped on the Mariners with four runs in the first two innings.  Nick Romero drove home two with a two run double in the second as the third baseman led the team with three RBIs on the evening.  Evan Bigley added two hits and two RBIs including a solo home run that capped the scoring for Elizabethton.
 Pulaski (0-1) got to within one run in the fifth as Juan Fuentes laced a two run double for one of his three hits to lead Pulaski.  Jose Rivero and Jake Shaffer added RBIs for the Mariners, while Kris Sanchez added a double.
 Danny Rondon earned the victory in relief for Elizabethton, while Steven Blevins garnered a save.  Nick Czyz took the loss for Pulaski.

 This was the final game of the season for the Mariners at home.  Pulaski will now travel to Elizabethton and need to win both games to earn their first Appalachian League title since 1991.
