Grants coordinator to be hired

PULASKI COUNTY — To help the county latch on to some state and federal grant money, the Pulaski County Board of Supervisors voted last night to hire a part-time grants coordinator.
County Administrator Peter Huber said administration of grants is so complicated due to the number of requirements that must be met that the county would benefit from a part-time employee to oversee and apply for them.
Huber said many projects are being delayed or beneficial funds are being passed up due to limited staff time to oversee or apply for the grants.
Although the county does not presently have sufficient space for an office for the coordinator, Huber said most of the work probably could be accomplished at the coordinator’s home.
Since many grants have administration funds “built into them,” Huber said much of the cost of the position could be covered by the grants that are received.
