Downtown block party set Sept. 1

PULASKI — Summer may be coming to an end soon, but area residents still have at least one more opportunity to put on their Shagging shoes
The Pulaski Theatre and The Fine Arts Center for the New River Valley will close out the summer with a Downtown Beach Bash block party to be held Labor Day evening on Main Street between Washington and Jefferson avenues.
The event will feature music by the Rock’N Cruisers, which specializes in oldies tunes from the 50’s, 60’s and 70’s.
Band members include Chuck Anderson on keyboards, Bill Smith on bass, Mark Webb on drums, Tim Douthat on trumpet, and vocalist/guitarist Larry Frost.
The event runs from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Monday, Sept. 1.
There also will be beach music performed by contestants of the Star of the Blue Ridge competition.
Other features include a beer garden, food vending, children’s activities and more.
Tickets are $10 in advance or $12 at the event.
Admission for children ages 12 and under is $5.
Tickets are available at Coffee Buy The Book, Martin’s Pharmacy and The Fine Arts Center.
All proceeds benefit the theatre and the fine arts center.
