Pulaski wins game, series vs. JC

PULASKI — Two clutch hits from Dwight Britton and Tommy Johnson highlighted a pair of back-to-back three run innings for the Pulaski Mariners as they defeated the Johnson City Cardinals 6-2 at Calfee Park on Thursday night.
The victory gave the Mariners the series win over the Cardinals and allowed Pulaski to maintain their lead in the East Division of the Appalachian League Standings.
Pulaski (30-19) use a three run double by Britton in the fifth inning to take the lead before adding insurance in the sixth inning when Tommy Johnson smacked the second of his two base hits, a double down the left field line to plate two.  Gabriel Noriega drove home Johnson with a single later in the sixth.
Johnson City (25-24) got eight hits off Brooks Mohr and two RBI singles but the Pulaski right hander was sharp over his seven innings of work to earn his fifth victory of the season.  Andres Esquibel closed out the game with two perfect innings.  Randy Santos took the loss for the Cardinals.
The Mariners will be on the road for three games with the Bluefield Orioles starting tonight.
Pulaski returns home on Monday to tangle with the same Orioles for three games, first pitch scheduled for 7 pm.
