M’s jump on Braves early

PULASKI – Pulaski Mariners scored all eight of their runs in the first four innings to defeat the visiting Danville Braves 8-2 at Calfee Park on Monday night. The Pulaski outburst was highlighted by a four-run third inning as the Mariners (28-18) pushed their lead in the standings to 3-1/2 games over the Braves (25-22).
The Mariners plated two runs in the first, one each in the second and fourth, while exploding for four in the third off of Danville pitching.
Starter Fabian Williamson (4-2) was sterling on the mound for Pulaski, pitching seven innings and allowing just one run on six hits, while striking out six. Williamson has gotten a win in each of his last four decisions, going 23 innings and giving up only five runs while striking out 32 batters over the span.
Andres Esquibel came on in relief of Williamson for the last two innings to seal the victory.
Kris Sanchez and Blake Trinkler launched solo homeruns on their way to two hits apiece on the night. Mario Martinez also had two hits for Pulaski with two runs scored to join Sanchez in that category, while Juan Fuentes matched Trinkler with two hits and two RBIs.
The Mariners open a three-game home series with the Johnson City Cardinals on Tuesday night. First pitch is scheduled for 7:00 p.m.
