Danville downs Pulaski 9-6

PULASKI – Danville used a four-run third inning to down the Pulaski Mariners 9-6 at Calfee Park on Sunday night. The Mariners had tied the game at two in the second inning before the Braves took the lead for good in the four-run frame.
Danville (25-21) tallied single runs in the first and second before Pulaski (27-18) tied the game at two in their half of the second inning on a Dwight Britton two-run homerun.
The four-run third by the Braves was highlighted by two homeruns as Gerado Rodriguez lifted a solo shot before L.V. Ware connected on a three-run homer.
Kris Sanchez led the Mariners attack with three hits while Britton, Juan Fuentes, Tommy Johnson, Gabriel Noriega, and Deybis Benitez each added two base knocks apiece. Benitez added a solo homerun in the eighth.
Ware and Jesus Sucre each had three hits for Danville, while Jon Gilmore added two hits. Randall Delgado (2-6) picked up the victory for the Braves with Matthew Small earning his fifth save of the season.
Kyle Hass (1-4) suffered the loss for Pulaski, giving up six runs on six hits and four walks over just under three innings pitched.
The two teams close out the rubber match of their three game series on Monday night at Calfee Park. Game time is 7 p.m.

Pulaski takes first game

PULASKI – The Pulaski Mariners used a 10-hit attack to defeat the team chasing them in the standings – the Danville Braves – 6-3 at Calfee Park Saturday night. The Mariners scored all six runs in the middle three innings to push their lead in the division to 3-1/2 games over the Braves.
Pulaski (27-17) got four hits from Tommy Johnson and two RBI’s, while Mario Martinez added a solo homerun in the fifth inning for one of his two hits. Jonathan Arias recorded a RBI triple to score Guy Welsh, who accounted for two runs scored on the evening.
Danville (24-21) took a 1-0 lead in the fourth on a solo homerun from Gerado Rodriguez before adding two in the eighth when Chris Fuller recorded the second of his two hits, an RBI double.
Brooks Mohr (4-2) pitched six innings to earn the victory for Pulaski, while Blake Nation pitched the final six outs to earn the save. David Francis (3-2) took the loss for Danville.
